    03 vs 04 cobra scaling

i pulled the file off my 03 cobra and was comparing it to an 04 stock tune i pulled off of here. When i bought the car it was already tuned, so i wanted to see the changes made and i noticed a bunch of things off. the scaling on some of the tables are off between the two, one example is under idle tab ISC transfer function desired airflow is scaled 00.0 0.10 0.23 0.32 0.46 1.04 1.65 2.48 2.50 16.00 for the 03 and the 04 is scaled 0.00 0.13 0.26 0.38 0.58 1.06 1.53 2.07 2.55 2.62 another example would be under fuel tab Fuel cranking vs ECT the engine coolant temp (oF) is scaled starting from the top 65.534 110 68 50 20 0 -20 -40 -65.536 -65.536 -65.536 -65.536 for the 03 and for the 04 its scaled as followed 65.534 230 180 110 68 50 20 0 -20 -40 65.536 65.536 there a few more that are off too but its way to much effort to type it all in. now as far as i know those are not adjustable and i was wondering if the was a revision on fords end between years, i know my 03 is an early production canadian car and im assuming the 04 is an american car but would these values not be the same? any help would be great, i just want to have a mostly stock tune for my car for keeps sake

pretty normal. but they are changeable

  3. #3
The x and y axis scaling values I'm talking about not the adjustable parameters within the table

    yes

the only real way to check for changes, is to compare an identical car. the calibrations even though seemingly similar, are vastly different. making the mistake of trying to load values from one cal to another will give very unsatisfactory results. before we had hpt access to these cars, tuning was adequate at best, but if you look at files using binary editor, or tuner pro etc, you will see the vastly different calibrations ford used to control identical setups

You would think they are identical cars, that's why I'm asking if anyone knows if there has been a revision in software between those two years. Needless to say if anyone has a stock 03 cobra tune that would help me out greatly

If anyone has stock 2003/04 Cobra files in hpt format I would be keen to get a copy if possible! I have a a few reads of 01 Cobra?s and have an Eaton swapped 01 Cobra so need a good stock tune as a go by. I?ve pulled the 04 one off this forum already, I believe that?s a stock file.

all 03 and 04 cobras are interchangeable there were no calibration specific changes between the two years.

theres a bunch of different cals for them but the most commonly used is the AMZ2 which uses the FBGI0 strategy. I use that same strategy for all the 02-04 GT's I tune as well.

The Eaton swapped 02' Cobra (Its an Aussie import) I have still uses the stock strategy (CVAE7BZ) with very few changes! Can post if you're curious! Being an Aussie tuner, they wouldn?t have had SCT database access to the other Strategies (same as me).

Do you recommend loading a 03/04 Cobra strategy into a 01 Cobra PCM (with an Eaton swap) as a base tune? I have simply edited the CVAE7BZ (strategy when the xcal1 was returned to stock) to be a 03/04 base tune....except things like final drive, fuel pump calibration, spark for higher comp etc. Waiting on parts so haven't tested it yet!

The other 2002 Cobra I have here is an RVAF1C4.

02' Cobra with Eaton swap. Tune from a local shop....not for use as a go by!

03/04 cobras dont have knock sensors and use another iat sensor down in the intake vally. The cams might be slightly different and compression ratios. Loading a 03/04 cobra tune could hurt it. You're best bet is to modify the 01cobra tune and be mindful if you use knock sensor that the blower will throw false knock

So far I?ve used the stock strategy and just changed all the tables to mirror a 03/04 Cobra. Compression is different, but yeah cams might be different also, good point. Knock sensor has been removed/disabled. Still waiting on parts so haven?t fired it up yet.

How the tables are used may cause an issue using 03/04 values in a 01 strategy. I?m not well versed in what happens in the background with these...will find out when I start tuning it!

It uses that second iat sensor to retard timing and add fuel instead of the knock sensor because of heat soak. I dont think that strategy would be implemented in a non f/I motor that uses knock. May be worth it to look into that

Having issue with making a histogram. Trying to get STFT+LTFT to work with an 04 Mustang. Anyone have it working for them?

Datalogging is currently not functioning with eecv. Best bet to log with another device until a fix comes out, if it does

Yes, it is working with limited PID support. just trying to do STFT+LTFT but it is stuck on one cell in the table, just wanted to see if anyone else has a fix.

if its stuck in one cell and not moving, thats because the table isnt properly setup. go into settings and make sure its logging the correct parameters for this ecu

The cell is moving, it just fill the one cell it doesnt want to travel up and down the ad count/volts
