    Narrowband to wideband

    Hello,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Just purchased the MPVI 2 to tune the 2009 5.7 Hemi/545RFE going into my 1978 Dodge stepside shortbox.

    Question:

Can the narrowband O2 sensors be converted to using widebands instead? Found this converter and was wondering if this could work or if even using wideband sensors through the narrowband wiring and then setup somehow with Editor.

    Thanks,
    Greg

Some wideband controllers have a "narrowband output" you could feed to your OEM ECU, but I don't think the product you linked will do that. The one you linked is a specialized item used to put a wideband sensor in a car that didn't have one, but also requires swapping out the ECU to a wideband-compatible one.

Here are some wideband controllers that either have "narrowband outputs", or analog outputs that can be programmed to perform that function:

I personally have used a couple of the 14point7 products and have been happy with them, although I didn't use the narrowband outputs specifically.

So, if I understand correctly, I couldn't feed in wideband info through the narrow band wiring for logging/tuning?

    Thanks,
    Greg

Nope, the narrowband and wideband signals are very different. On wideband controllers with a "narrowband output", that output is separate from the main output for that reason.

Thanks, ELaw. I would think that it could be modified through the channels.

Still happy with the 14point7? I'm looking to run the spartan 3 but haven't heard much feedback on it
