A45 MED40AMG ECM Software Update to enable tuning?

    Hi Guys,

I have just purchased a new MPVI2 and am ready to start learning the A45 MED17.7.2 ECU. I have previously tuned LS2 V8s on the older interface.

I would like to read my ECM and get familar with the layout and tables available however when i try to read I get prompted to write a software update to the MED40AMG ECM to enable tuning.
My car already has an existing tune installed by a 3rd party tuner. If I do the ECM software update is it likely to cause issues for the car or the existing non standard tune?

    Thanks

your probably best sending an email to support and asking directly what it does, and will it overwrite existing cal data

I haven't tuned a A45 yet but if it's like the rest of the Mercedes, you will not be able to read the ecu. So you lose whatever tune was on there and start fresh. You can't just read someone else's tune and copy it for yourself or even tweak it.

does that mean we can use HPTuners to overwrite another brand aka dimsports flash tune? over in the standard tuning forums one of the guys from HPTuners said he does not advise to do this as only a small number of computers have been enabled for complete write.
