    L86 cammed 6l80e WOT 1-2 2-3 no shift

What am I missing, I've tried RMP at 6500 and as low as 5700. I've tried changing my WOT 4 mph fast and 4 mph slower. I make sure the part throttle 100% is matching the WOT mph.

I upped my adaptives which made the shift nice and crisp anywhere but WOT. If I just barely back off the throttle it makes the shift nice and crisp.

What can I do I just want it to shift around the 6200 rpm mark. I've read everything I can find but I'm just missing something.

    It's a 2014 1500 L86 TSP 218/226 .635 .635 cam and alittle head work.

In my mind it needs to see the mph and rpm met before it will make the shift. But they only time I can make it make a very slow shift is when I set the WOT rpm really high. Like up to 6500 RPMs, it still shift around 5900 rpms but it?s very slow. Like granny shifting a clutch slow.

I would put all trans settings back to stock. This will prove that your issue is related to your settings or not.

If it works normal with stock settings you could gradually raise your numbers until the results meet with your desires. Shift speed is more of an art. You don't get exactly what you ask for. With WOT shift speed (especially 1-2) you need to aim low. I am guessing that your WOT mph is way too high. You have raised WOT 1-2 shift RPM 12% from 5800 to 6500 and WOT 1-2 shift speed 40% from 27 to 38! To that end...you might try raising shift speed the same % as you raise shift RPM.

Thanks I will give it a try. What preventive would you start with. It shifted better than any other truck I?ve owned when it was stock. But once I started trying to raise the shift rpm. I just never got the WoT right

You could raise WOT shift rpm to 6000. 6000 would be a 3.44% increase. So you could go over to WOT shift speed by 3.44% (28) and of course (as you already know) 100% throttle on the part throttle table.

If that works well you could go on up to 6200 and the additional 3.5% or so increase in shift speed (29). Or you could just go straight to 6200...It is just a case of gradual changes being easier to track reactions.

So total newb question but how would you type it in to the computer to get 3.44% increase.

In my mind to get the close to 6000 from 5800 I would type in 1.05 to get a 5% increase which takes 5800 up to 6,090

Sorry for this type of question.

3.44% was just a suggestion based on going from 5800 to 6000. But yes, 1.0344 would do that. The point would be to not raise the speed by % more than the rpm is raised.

And sorry I don't know why I couldn't think to just move the decimal place over.

Stock setting worked great this morning. Nice smooth shifts and really snapped off the next gear at WOT.

I just set the part throttle MPH, WOT mph and WOT RPM back to stock. I had to do a couple 4x4 digs to test the 1-2 shift and it seems to make the shift around 5400 at WOT. So I'm going to load up the tune where I went up from stock 5800 x 1.09 which should put me at 6,332. And if it shift a little early like the stock setting. I should be around 5,900 to 6,000. I'm also adding 1.09 to the other tables too.

So far so good. I set part throttle mph, WOT mph and WOT rpm back to stock in everything above 1-2 and decided to just work on the 1-2. I had to bump my adaptive up alot to get it to not have a delay.

When I first bumped up the 2-3 shift 1.05 I didn't have the adaptive up high enough. Now that I got the 1-2 better I'm going to go back and bump the adaptive on the 2-3 and 3-4 and work on those shifts.

The truck feels so much better now.

Before if I was in 2wd and took off from a light spinning. It would up shift real quick into 2nd then bog then down shift back to 1st and spin again then finally shift into second once I let off the throttle a little bit. I was embarrassing.

Now just tears off spinning and shift into second and lights them up a again and takes off. Like a cammed 6.2 should.

That is great! Glad to hear it.

On the adaptives, just make sure to clear the memory each time or it will take a while to start to see a difference and you might over compensate thinking that it is not making a big enough difference.

This is where I'm not sure what to change now.

It shifted good 2-3 at 5900 rpms so I just tried to raise it 1.03 to get it to shift closer to 6100 or 6200. Well, that causes it to not shift. The KR only happens when it doesn't shift.1-21-20 BBA_G5MAF_v15 4 2nd gear adapative up.hpt1-20-20 5.hpl

Looks like you added 1.03 to the last tune (rather than 1.03 to the stock tune) so it went too high. Right now your WOT 2-3 is 65mph , 16% higher than the factory tune 56mph.

But the bigger problem is your WOT 2-3 RPM at 6712RPM. That should never be set higher than you want it to shift.

From the beginning I was just using the % idea to show not to raise mph % more than you raise rpm %. They need to work hand in hand in order to get a nice transition from part throttle shifting to WOT.

    Oh ok

So each time I was changing the tune I would bump it up by another percentage. Not from the stock percentage.

So just for example I would bump it up 5800 x 1.05 = 6090 so then that would actually make the shift at 5700. So I would bump that number 6090 x 1.03 = 6272. Then that shift alittle higher so I would do it again

All while at the same time I was doing the same to the mph 28 x 1.05 = 29 then 29 x 1.03 = 30 until I worked it up to a number that didn?t work.

I?m terrible at percentages. So now I see how thing bigger number gets so far off by doing the percentages over and over. It grows faster than the mph number.

I think the wot rpm is what?s throwing me off.

Stock it?s set for 5800 and shifts at 5600

I bump it to 6090 it shifts low 5900. It never reaches the WOT rpm

Just for the hell of it I added my information into the Blue Car tool to see what numbers it came up with. This is what I got from the Blue Cat tool when I put the rpm for 1, 2, and 3rd gear at 6,200 rpms. Any thing above 3rd I don't if I push it to 6,200 because I'll be going faster than my tires and drive shaft are rated for. I'm going to load it a see what it does.

So I loaded the blue cat numbers. I put the shift RPM in the blue cat tool at 6200. It shifted just how I wanted it to shift just at 5937 not 6200. BUT it was a beautiful shift LOL.

I know Ya'll think I crazy for fighting for this 6200 rpm in a truck when it shifted great at 5937 and I know 200 rpms won't make hardly any difference. I just want to learn how to do it my self for when I buy a camaro and modify it so it can spin to the moon.

Since the Blue Cat shift better than any of the tunes I loaded I'm going to go back and bump the number up to 6400 and see if that will get it to shift right around 6200. Wish me luck LOL

Thanks for all your help. I'm learning alot.
