Using my computer with someone elses cable

They have licensed the tune on their truck. Their computer crashed. I tried reading the tune on their '14 Silverado with their cable attached to my computer, and comes up unlicensed. Is there a way to tune and write their vehicle without using more credits? I can use my cable to read and scan the vehicle, but don't want the extra expense.
And what is the procedure for reading the FPCM?
    Thanks

As long as you are using the MPVI or MPVI2 that was used to tune that PCM it shouldn't matter what computer you use. I have not had any issues swapping computers so far. It is the MPV (1 or 2) that holds the license information.

Thanks. I am using that cable and MPVI. I am waiting on a new app key to see if that works.

You will have to load their app key to your laptop, then it will work
