I have an 06 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a modified 5.7 and 545RFE transmission which I understand is not covered by the HPT and apparently never will be. It's also my understanding that the 07 and later 545RFE's are covered....same transmission, just different programming.....I think. My question is, can I install a PCM/TCM out of an 07> Grand Cherokee and then be able to modify the settings? I am guessing that if the HPT uses VIN numbers to determine what is covered, I won't be able to do it, but if the HPT uses the make/year of the PCM/TCM, then I may be able to use it and modify it. My goal is to be able to access and insert 2 Prime into the shift schedule like the 07 and later 545RFE's, thereby making it a 6 speed instead of the current lousy 5 speed with crappy gear ratios. Any tricks, work arounds, help and/or suggestions regarding this are appreciated.
