    NAG1 Tuning help - P0730 code - aftermarket stall

    Hi all,

Gonna try to explain this a little b

Hoping someone has some experience with this. Put a 3200 FTI stall converter in my 2010 300 5.7. Started getting a P0730 code for incorrect gear ratio, and car will go into limp mode once it gets to 4th. Can't really find anything on this, anyone else have some experience or an idea of how to fix this?

Attached tune and log of issue

    Thanks in advance

I am just trying to figure all this stuff out for myself at the moment but firstly make sure your gear ratio is correct. and maybe adjust your limits to be something like this. Not much help but its something.Untitled.png

What would I need to change my gear ratio to though? I haven't ever changed the gearing in it, only the torque converter.

If you havent changed your ear ratio at all i am guessing that wouldn't be the issue.

That P0730 is most likely related to the Torque Converter. If you had an issue with a particular gear you would get a P073X (where X is the number of the gear having the issue (1 - 5)). So, I'd be looking at TCC apply issues. If the TCM supports viewing TCC Slip Actual and TCC Slip Desired PIDs I'd start looking there for confirmation. It may be that the TCM has a Stall RPM it is using to judge slip but I would think that if that were the case you'd pop that P0730 in 1st Gear. As for what to Change? I don't know as I'm new to this myself but I feel it will probably be in the TCC settings.

    - Hope this helps some.

Two weeks ago you asked the same question. Did you try raising the TCM rpm limit and raising the limp off set?

Hi sorry, I didn't see your response on there. I just took it out and made some changes. I changed the TCM RPM Limit up to 7100, and changed the Limp Offset to 800, but there werent any noticable differences as far as the issues go. Still doing the same exact thing

By the prickle of my thumb something wicked this way comes!2008 Chrysler 300c! 2013 heads/220/230 comp cam/LTheaders/FTI 2600 stall converter.

Im having the same issue. Im going to replace the conductor plate and all solenoids first. if that doesnt work im going to change tone rings on axles. if that doesnt work......well ill cross that bridge later..... i will update later if the solenoids and conductor plate swap fixes it

Update bro? Ran into this error twice in one week recently

For me it only has happened at over 70 mph when I slam it for couple seconds to 80. All of a sudden when I let go of gas, I notice the gears shift on its own acting little funny, then the car is in disabled mode (neutral) so I coast to a full stop then I’m able to go again like nothing ever happened.

And then after like driving car couple times turning it off and on by end of day it disappears (the engine light goes away) and I’m like was there ever a problem ? Jeez lol.

So for me it’s only happened twice in one week in the same fashion,

Cruising on freeway for 20 mins after cold start and when I finally decide to step on gas at 70-85 and let go it goes into neutral mode. Only twice within 1,000 miles with second time occurring even after the oil and pan change with amsoil.

I changed tranny oil , filter , gasket and all . Reoccurred the second time after that days later.

Im thinking it’s valve body , solenoids, conductor , speed sensor , new oil again etc … this is a big job sorta.. likely over 2000$ to fix easy. Damn

Dang... Man I'm having the same problem as you. I paid to have a shop "tune it" because I was confused with the transmission settings but it seems like they only did what was suggested here with the limp and rpm limit but still doing it and it's been back there twice so I've kinda lost trust in them... Did you ever figure out what was the issue?

Coming in late on this one, if the original poster is still trying to figure this out take another log but this time select all the transmission PIDs. The higher stall cannot do this by the way. Normally it is because someone replaced the rear end ratio, but in your case you said all you did was replace the converter with higher stall so obviously that's not it. This is a bit of a tricky one to analyse the data because the two input speed sensors (N2 and N3) don't always read 1 to 1, it depends which gears you are in. With a log taken showing all the gears and capturing the point where it trips the P0730 I can figure out what is going on and explain how to analyze the data so that you can also figure it out. The log that was shared on here is pretty useless since you can't see shift command, solenoids command and the most important thing, N2 and N3. It would be nice also to get output speed in RPM instead of MPH but if it is not available I can always use a match channel to figure it out.

Hey I'm having a similar problem to the OP. Car struggles to take off high, revs up high but does run. I'm think TC but it throws incorrect gear ratio code. Happens almost every time under load /WOT. Right before the tranny throws itself in neutral the tcc slip jumped to 3,500 when the desired slip was 15. Anyway to confirm the TC before pulling the tranny

Would need to see a log with all the transmission PIDs to be able to tell what is going on.
