    Remote tuning is read again

I'm just curious, why can't we lock the program, some of the tricks and parameters are stolen, which is unfair to those of us who spend time and effort debugging.
Can we bind the ID of the device? The written program can only be read by its own device, which can avoid a lot of theft.

    thank you

nothing is stolen, as long as they paid for your time. anyone can come up with a tune after doing the research. just because someone put the same numbers in a table first dont make them the owners of said numbers in said positions. I believe locking something on someones vehicle is the dumbest thing possible in the aftermarket industry.

we design million dollar blueprints using 1000s of hours of engineering and programming learned through research and trial and error, after the customer pays, they get full access to everything. as it should be.

But once some technical things are stolen, what we get is not thanks.Such as after 2017 E80A LTG tuning, the attachment is we spent a lot of time and effort to test, and running E30 fuel get 550 WHP, there is no limit to the throttle. This car belongs to our customer, some pirated businesses will adopt the way of fishing to steal our results, These vehicles can be targeted by pirate dealers, I hope is to provide prevent HPtuners read function again, as for the lock does not lock ourselves to choose from.

technically GM locks their ecm's, we just develop ways into them. Creating our own tunerlock requires alot of R&D on our end and in the past we've never charged for them meaning we lose money via the development time required for each so adding tunerlocking is typically not a high priority for us vs. adding new support, adding tables & features for vehicles we currently support.

Additionally by adding tunerlocking it disrupts an entire chain ie tuner tunerlocks an ecm, customer doesn't like the tune, goes to another tuner and they can't even read the ecm now customer needs to purchase a new ecm, have the new ecm initialized, etc. just to get someone else to tune his vehicle, ultimately those are the customers that end up coming to up angry that we even allow tunerlocking lol. Its a double edged sword.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Other problem is, when people had their cars tuned, almost nobody tuning told their customers they were locking their computer. And that's what pissed people off the most. Not that the ECM was locked, but that they knew nothing about it. It's a can of warms better left untouched.

There are a lot of ways to do it, and this is a good way to do it, like our T87A TCM.Don't worry about them reading it on other devices, because they're just going to copy it

tunerlockers and anyone who thinks that way should find a new hobby....maybe try eating glass. it is shocking that people even think that they somehow created some unobtainable tune that should be forever locked to someones vehicle. NO. they pay you for your time, accept it or dont, but dont try to corrupt HPTuners. this company actually gets it right.
