    Flashing Over Other Company Tunes

Forgive my lack of knowledge here, but I have a question.

I have someone wanting me to dyno tune their Mustang. However, the Mustang last tuned via a Ngauge by a big and well known company. Would I be able to flash this car with my laptop with HP tuners? Or is this car's ecm locked to that Ngauge and that company's tuning?
I tune Cummins for living. Tune my mustang for fun.

Have not tried to read the car and I would assume that I cannot as I am sure most big companies lock their tunes.

Have them flash it back stock, then tune from there, if the ecu is locked.

So flash it back to stock with the NGauge, then I can license and tune it with HP?

Fords flash over hardware not software so theres no such thing as a locked tune on a ford its only the software you use that limits you to what you can or cant do.

If you dont have access to the device to return it to stock you can always write a full tune to a ford no problem.
