    2018 Chevy 1500 mpg tune

    Hey there everyone.

I'm new to the tuning world (HP Tuners anyways) and just currently picked up an MPVI2. My 60 yr old mom has a 2018 Chevy 1500 5.3 and asked if I could shut off DoD and possibly up her MPG's. Can someone shed some light on the areas i should adjust/look at? I'm not asking for someone to write me a tune, just a little help. The search bar and I don't get along, trust me I've tried. Thanks everyone!!

The AFM setting is just a simple change, it's setting it from enabled to disabled.

Getting more mpg isn't just going to happen. Technically you are going to reduce the mpg because you are stopping 4 cylinders from shutting off.

Even with AFM disabled I can get 22-24mpg in the right conditions on the freeway doing 65-70mph. My city gas mileage is crap at 14-16 mpg on pump gas.

There really isn't much voodoo magic you can do get 1-2mpg more by doing a few clicks of the mouse.
2016 Silverado CCSB 5.3/6L80e, not as slow but still heavy.

If you don't post your tune and logs when you have questions you aren't helping yourself.

Most gains are going to come from optimizing shift points, controlling torque converter, getting the maximum spark(mbt) you can to increase torque. As mentioned, there isnt a magic wand that you are going to wave and get big gains

a 10% gain is about as good as its going to get

the biggest thing you can do for fuel mileage is controlling that left foot

I guess things really are backwards in Louisiana haha

All too often people want a silver bullet solution when it just doesn't exist. Drive it easy, slow down on the highway, coast, and optimize the tune as others have said. Use light wheels/tires, don't put a lift kit on it, etc..
