The vehicle is a 2017 Fusion Sport (2.7 EcoBoost)

I've had a random misfire warning message about 1 or 2 years ago (gets sent to Fordpass as well) and following that, the trans would basically be in neutral for several seconds. I could manually up/down shift and nothing would happen, the engine would just rev like it was in neutral. I had this happen recently as well, and normally when it almost always happens is after a cold start or warm start and I have to suddenly go WOT from a standstill to merge onto a busy road. Once it hits some kind of limiter or is on the verge of an upshift, it's like I hit a wall and it cuts out into neutral. Usually during the WOT 1-2. The only reason I mention the misfire is because the one time this happened, I got a flashing CEL/MIL followed by the Fordpass message (nothing was set as an error code).

The cold and warm starts have me thinking spark plugs. Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution? Once the engine is fully warmed up, I've never encountered this issue.

Perhaps smaller gaps are needed on the plugs?
