99-00 vs 01-02 Camaro Spark Tables

Why are the 01-02 Camaro High Octane and Low Octane Spark Tables so much more conservative than the 99-00? In the WOT cells the 01-02 tables are 9 degrees more retarded (19deg vs 28deg). Is there anything in the engine hardware that is substantially different that would prevent me from just utilizing the 99-00 Spark Tables?

Here is the HO Main Spark vs Cyl Airmass comparison table:

Make sure you're looking at the relevant sections of the table, NA 5.7 wont see more than 70 - 76 grams at WOT. The timing differences are not that significant there. Also, I think the LS6 intake was on the later engines and a slightly different cam was in them so that may have lead to a little better cylinder charge and thus a little less timing. You could probably use the earlier tables or for a safer route, just add a couple of degrees to the existing tables and see how it feels and check the knock values, then go from there.
