2000 Sierra/Silverado Electric Fans Conversion Question

Ok, I have a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500, 5.3 auto. OS: 12205612. I have been looking and looking at threads about electric fan conversions and have not found anything conclusive. I am looking to add the factory 05-06 electric fan assembly. I have done this before on the 03-04 trucks, but apparently some people say that the 99-00 ecm's do not support it. Before I buy everything, I was hoping to get a clear answer if this will work or not? HP tuners shows it's an option in the editor, but some forums say it will not work... Has anyone done this on this year of truck/ecm? Thanks!!!
