The new Nissan 400z coming with the VR30/6 speed...this could be big for us if.....

....we can get our shit together and get caught up with the competition. I am hope to primarily tune these vehicles once this software is up to par with the other tuners. I posted a feeler for tuning using HPT on one of the Infiniti/Nissan forums and the number 1 question I get asked that I still don't know how to answer is "What is the benefit of HPT over ECUTek. I don't know to be honest. I currently own an ECUtek tune for my Q60 and I can tell you, the app is amazing. A good friend of mine is an ECUtek tuner and because I helped him get data streams using Consult III (I am an Infiniti Master tech/service manager), he gave a free tune. With the APP, I am able to make and customize a full "dashboard" and I can adjust boost ON THE FLY. I'm hoping there are some plans in the works to come close to what they offer. This Z will be a game changer and potentially big money for us tuners/HPT.

Evan, if there is any help I can give you as far as data capturing with the VR30, please let me know. I have access to a Consult 3 as well as my VR30 engine.

I know PLENTY of folks with tuned Nissans and Infinitis. I dont know ANY of them that actually USE the map switching features. Is this feature worth 1000+ bucks? In my opinion, no...

It will cost a min. of $600 just to license the car and purchase a dongle. That is before any profit being made by the tuner. It doesn't seem like HP is doing the vehicle unlock license deal they do with the american car stuff. I have a ton of unlocked ecus for GM. This wont be cheap either.

    NA applications and boost
    NA map switcing
    speed limit
    rev limited
    pops and bangs map
    Race Fuel Map

i have tuned 100s and 80% of them want this feature, real car/race enthusiast

    now moving on boost

does the customer always want the same boost level?

the gains from pump gas to race gas/E85 alone nowadays its worth the map switching

I have to agree completely. As stated in my previous post, when the answer to "What is the benefit of software X vs software X?" Is nothing........ how do we expect to make money? Most of us just want tech that has already been out for years. I feel like the ball is being dropped on potentially big money for HPT/us.
