PCM Swap Help!! Replacement for 12576106??

First time poster here, looking for some help.

I was tuning a 2003 Sierra 5.3 and the ECM bricked during the second flash of the day. Bad battery ground .The ECM part # is 12576106, but I had a 12602801 laying around so I threw it in the truck. I was going to try to flash the stock 5.3 Sierra file onto the 801but it said the vehicle said not licensed and didn't give me the option to license it. I put the 12576106 on my bench harness and it still seems like its bricked. Having a hard time finding another 12576106 for a reasonable price so I'm looking for other options.

Will the 801 work in place of the 106? And if so, why can't I license it?

The 2003 P59 PCM (12576106) has a 1Mb flash memory, and uses PCM connectors with Blue and Green retainers.

The 2001 or 2002 P01 PCM (12200411) has a 512Kb flash memory, and uses PCM connectors with Blue and Red retainers.

Are you familiar with the old phrase "trying to put a square peg in a round hole" ?

    Jon,
Sorry I had my part numbers wrong in the original post. I swapped it for #12602801

OK - that makes more sense.

    Service # 12602801 is a 1MB P59 PCM - used from 2005 to 2007.

Technically, it could be used as a replacement for your 2003 P59 - the difficulty is often the 2003 OS. The 2003 1Mb P59 OS seem to be unique - and do not flash the same as the 2004 to 2007 OS do.

In 20 years I have only bricked (temporarily) two controllers. One such instance was using GM software and a Tech 2 to program a 2003 OS onto a replacement PCM. If this is a conversion vehicle that you are working with, then flashing the replacement PCM with a 2004 OS would be my suggestion.
