Question GoPro Hero 9 Black Support?

Hi, I have just upgraded from a Hero 7 Black to the Hero 9 Black.

What I did not realise is that GoPro no longer update their Windows Quik program and the old version does not import / understand Hero 9 Black data.

RaceRender seems happy with my Hero 7 Black with speed and map just working.

However with Hero 9 Black it sees the GPS data but nothing actually works with the speed always at zero and no motion on the map.

Should it work or if not will there be an updated version?

Or does anyone have a work-around?

    Many thanks.

Do you have the Data file to share? It might be with the GoPro adding more data during the initial GPS lock that prevents RR from displaying the data correctly.

Google is blocking my ability to access the file. Can you directly upload it to this thread?

    That worked.

I extracted the GPS data from the video file that you uploaded and it appears that the GoPro failed to record any changes to latitude, longitude, altitude and speed. I pasted some of the data that I was able to extract from it. It appears to have recorded the time though so it's at least writing and recording data. Try to do a factory reset and update the software if you haven't done so already. There appears to be a software update for the Hero 9 (v1.21) from September 16, 2020. See if that helps and let us know!

Ahh...I was hoping that the software update would fix the issue. Please send them a note as well so they can look into this issue.

Those YouTube reviews are cursory at best for the likes and click through rate.

    Many thanks for your investigation.

It would seem GoPro are aware of the issue and I guess are working on where they went wrong (this time).

Keeping an eye on this thread, any updates? Hoping to maybe upgrade my Hero 7 to a 9 soon if RR handles this properly.

I bought a Hero 9 Black at the beginning of December (Black Friday sale price) and it came with firmware version HD9.01.01.22.00, I did a trackday mid-December and it appears to have logged the GPS correctly... I've just updated to the above firmware (showing as HD9.01.01.50.00), hopefully that doesn't break it

I'm new to GoPros and using RaceRender for the overlays but it all looks good, I have to say I'm massively underwhelmed at the GoPro *software* in general (on-device, android app, Quik on Windows, even the website). But the video quality seems good and like I mentioned the GPS data is there so RaceRender extracted that fine and shows all the overlays/data available so all good really, just barely functional rather than impressive...
