DQ250 TCM (DSG6) - MFD Current gear display

    Hi everybody

A Quick version of the Story,
Before flashing the Stock updated version of the transmission, my car used to display the current gear next to the "D" or "S" indicator on the top right side of the MFD (D1, D2, D3, S1, S2...),
After installing the updated software version it displays only "D" or "S".

Does anybody knows how to enable this function again ?

    Thanks !

Did you update the transmission software yourself or was it done by a dealer?

At least on my Audis ('12 A4 and '14 A6), that functionality is enabled/disabled via a transmission adaptation value with a VCDS (aka VAG-COM). If you have a VCDS, you should be able to Google or poke around some forums to see how to enable that function for your car. For example for my A4, it's:
    Code:
Enable Automatic Gear selection shown in DIS
    [02 ? Auto Trans] [Adaptation ? 10]
Select ?Single Gear Display? from top channel drop down menu
Select ?D on/S on? from New value drop down menu

If the VCDS route doesn't pan out, try changing the "gear over CAN" dropdown option under Trans Diag. I haven't had a chance to try this yet, but it looks promising.

Thank you for the Information @ELaw
The transmission update was done by the MPVI2 Interface automatically in order to enable tuning, by doing this i lost the previous tune.
i Do have VCDS, so will do some research about it !
I'll come back with the results !

Unfortunatelly, no luck with this one, in fact it's even worst, on both options (Active and Always on) the gear is not displayed even when in Manual Mode
    Will try with the VCDS.

    Exciting news guys,
Just received an update from HPTuners support about this.
They've added the Gear display function on the new VCM Editor Beta.
The function is under Shift General > General > Gear Display Normal/Gear Display Sport

Seems like they haven't added it for all variants. I just opened the files for my '12 A4 and my '14 A6 and that parameter is not available for either.

Your A4 and A6 arent dq250. This post was about the dual clutch transverse gearbox. You have the ZF regular automatic in those cars.

Well, I have a DQ250 and don't see it either on the latest beta. Tons of different box codes, so might take awhile to make it to all of them perhaps.

Well, even after changing the option to Enabled, the gears still not showing up, just updated the ticket and will come back with the updates.

Just to add info. I flashed my DQ250_0D9 and the gear display was enabled after the flash. I didn't change any settings related to this, so it seems to be the default on my base file. Not complaining, would have set it up this way anyway

    Updating this topic !!!
The Last VCM Editor (BETA) now has a "Gear Display 1-6" Funcion over Transmission > Shift General > General.
After changing it to 1-6 mode, the gears are being displayed (Without the D or S before, but it's already a big improvement) !
Wasn't able to test the "Multiplex" and "Always Multiplex" modes yet, maybe one of theese is the one i'm looking for

    Big update guys !!!
HPTuners just released a new beta version with the 39395 parameter BOTH and ALWAYS BOTH option.
Th BOTH option just completed the task !
Now the MFA shows D1-D6, S1-S6 and goes to 1-6 as soon as i go to manual.
    So case solved !
