Is a 97 computer change a know swap that works?

I'm not that familiar with the early early 3800 computers. I've done tuning on 97+ grand prix's with same engine though and to be honest the computers are super basic.

If there are no vacuum/exhaust leaks the majority of the tuning comes down to MAF tuning and spark tuning. There is no base running airflow tables like the V8's have. So make sure the throttle blade is all the way closed and that the IAC is working. If that log is right the TPS is at zero but yet the RPM's are still letting it go way high without the throttle even opening.
2016 Silverado CCSB 5.3/6L80e, not as slow but still heavy.

If you don't post your tune and logs when you have questions you aren't helping yourself.
