Scanner frequently crashes during save

Is there something wrong with my installation or something? I have an mviv2 pro and Scanner v4.8.7, with no updates found, on a relatively new up-to-date Windows machine and the application is consistently crashing when I try to save a log. I lose at least 50% of my logs as a result of this bug and its gotten to the point where I am afraid to even attempt saving....

any suggestions?
