Ls 0411 pcm l31 vortec swap

I'm in the middle of doing and 0411 swap in my 99 OBS 383/4L80E Tahoe build and I know that everyone likes to use the Express Van Cal as a starting point which I've downloaded but after reading i would need 2 credits to load it into a junkyard pcm then another 2 credits to be able to edit the calibration. Is there any way to use the current ls calibration to run the l31 vortec motor? I've read the Efi connection 24x converion articles and book so I know all of the sensor calibrations are the same but the firing order is different and the ls's use coil on plug? Reason I aski is that I really need my truck running and I have only 2 credits left amd with the holidas I dont have the funds to buy more.credits anytime soon

If you don't have $100 for 2 HPT credits, then how will you put gas in the tank ?

    Why didn't you purchase your "junkyard" PCM from a 2001 or 2002 L31 5.7L Express / Savana van ?

People nickel and dime on the wrong things when it comes to a project.

You may have read this, but you did not understand it.

    A P01 PCM from a Gen 3 LS engine has a calibration setup for a 24x CKP. A P01 PCM from a 2001 or 2002 Express / Savana with the L31 5.7L or L30 5.0L engine has a calibration setup for a 4x CKP.

For the P01 PCM to correctly control your 1999 Vortec based engine platform (4x CKP and a 1x CMP in the distributor), it must be programmed as a 2001 or 2002 Express / Savana with either an L30 or L31 calibration.

Well I'm not trying to "skimp" on anything with my build the only thing that has not gotten replaced/rebuilt/refurbished/upgraded is the Tahoe body itself however right now I have a baby due any day now plus Christmas right around the corner so all of my extra funds are all going to paying the dr bills and buying presents for my other kids so if I can save any money with the pcm programming I'm looking to do so because thats money that can be used elsewhere. I read and I fully understand the differences between the 4x, 24x and 58x systems as I've tuned a couple of each of those with my old jet dst and my current hptuners system I just wasnt sure if there was a way other than rewiting the whole pcm and using 4 credits in the process to change from the 24x coil near plug 02 Tahoe 5.3ls calibration to the 4x dizzy with single coil 02 express van 5.7 l31 calibration.

Bottom line is you license the file in the computer.(2credits) Then you license the van tune file you will use to run your l31. (2 credits) 4 credits total there is no way around it.

I'll sell you a PCM with a 01 or 02 van file (which ever you want) in it for $55 shipped. Then you just have to license it. It will be a 99-00 4896 red/blue instead of a 0411. That is all I have at the moment. It is functionally equivalent to a 0411. Or ship me a red/blue pcm and I'll put the van file in it and just pay for shipping it back about $15.

so where is the 24x ckp -vs- 4x ckp determined? Via the OS level? Not seeing any drop downs or buttons that determine that when I pull up different tunes. Got my 97 5.7 tahoe running with a 411 out of a 01' or 02' silverado that had a 4.8 in it.. just copied data parms over... but it sure isn't idling right.. so kinda stumped here.

OS level is 12208322... What I'm seeing for express tunes that I've looked at the OS level is 12212156...

I have done the 0411s but also now use the 2005/2006 DBC Blue/Green 1 meg PCMs that have the IAC drivers on the L31s. I have a Mexican GMT800 L31 file that has the same operating system as the 05/06 LS based stuff. Can swap the trans segment as needed to run a Manual, Non-Computer Auto, a 4L60E, a 4L80E or even Allison behind the L31. I have also setup a 4x coil per cylinder L31 with DBW. Started with a 6.0L base tune and selected low resolution crank sensor in the system options. Rewrite the whole PCM file and it works. My 97 Express van is currently a 1 meg Blue/Green DBC with Flex Fuel enabled, Lean Cruise enabled and a 4L85E segment swapped into the Mexican GMT800 L31 tune.
