    2019 cammed/supercharged Silverado tuning saga

Alright, I'm trying to tune a monster here and I don't think to many have really done a cammed 2019...especially with a blower and drop in pistons. So I'm looking for suggestions here. Whipple has been no help either. The truck has a terrible idle no matter what fields I seem to change. I had some success pulling out of the idle values on the VTT. Seems like that is the right direction since the idle is not reaching the values I'm setting. We're getting things closer but the truck still dies after we rev it in neutral. I attached the scan and tune I last used. Any ideas are appreciated.

I wish I could be some help as I plan to cam my already procharged 19/20 Sierra. If my tune file could help in any way just let me know and I’ll send it. But being two different platforms and mines a 5.3 I doubt it would help much.
2019 Procharged 5.3, KOOKS 1 7/8 long tubes, full true dual 3? magnaflow with built in x pipe, L86 intake, and throttle body, with a shade tree tune and a F**king locked T93 trans "she runs good though" plugs look nice lol

Also the truck seems to get two codes. P0106 I think (its a maf correlation code) and another code because the idle is lower then expected.

    Did you ever solve this?

Lower then expected is Bc tq model isn’t right and typically 150rpms lower then commanded to throw that code

Try lowering your VTT idle area by 20% from factory. You idle airmass and KPA are higher than they were when stock, so you need the stock VTT values in that area to now be that low all the way up to the new idle airmass and KPA area. Then blend it. Put all your idle tables back to stock except the commanded RPM and try that 20% drop as suggested. Then build from there.

We had to lower the VTT already to get the truck to idle. It was all over the place before and it would consistently die. Now the truck holds idle and drives great. The only issue is we're not getting full throttle and the start up is still an issue.
It'll start then timing gets pulled and the idle bogs down, sometimes it dies too. After the initial 60 seconds or so the idle is fine.
Full throttle is only seeing 45-55% throttle. I bumped up the VTT in wot areas and the torque values all see in line.

This looks like one of those newer ECU's that use Neural Network. Have you tried messing around with that at all? I haven't played with one of those yet but the concept doesn't seem too extreme.

Yes is has the Neural Network. So now you have to pay HP again so they can decode it and give it back to you. It's just one basic table. Load and rpm.

I lowered the VT tables some and it rewarded me with 60% throttle. Feels a lot better but no matter which direction I go from here seems to be a dead end. Stuck at 60

Yes, but now with a cam the "known" values have changed. This would make the NN learn incorrect Volumetric Efficiency values. Maybe on the newer ECU's this can limit throttle as well? Just throwing out ideas here.

Watch your immediate axle tq drop under the actual tq taking timing down with it :-) I do a bunch of drop in piston, cam, and blower vehicles so I've dealt with this situation many times.
Your Idle External Tq is way too low. Watch TQ Mgt - lower idle reserve to remove idle tq mgt
Watch your Cmd Throttle, it's up/down crazy chasing that commanded idle....... Get idle +/- airflow under control - Speed Control idle parameter.
You're also not logging all the channels you need to tune this vehicle properly being a gen v. Here is a snap shot of a very large cam, procharger (22psi), idle 850rpm, good timing, etc. Car idles limitless and once you get a car to this spot, you'll know what I'm talking about. It feels effortless idling.

Lowering VT tables are only going to do so much and I personally leave them stock. You're missing two pieces to the WOT puzzle for sure and possible a third item once you get the first two, but it usually follows suit. Hint below should help you out.

airflow, airflow, airflow - axle tq, tq, tq - engine tq, tq, tq - pedal, throttle, throttle

    Hope this info helps.

Have you tuned a 2019 yet? With a cam? When we first started it we couldn't get it to idle without adjustments to the VTT. It would sit 200rpms off commanded. These new systems with the neural network are not fun. I'll look through you scan though. Maybe I can pick up a few new pids to watch.

Come on...still having issue tuning anything beyond bolt ons in these torque based gen v now we have to deal with a new neural network why can't gm just keep it simple this is so frustrating

What did you figure out? I got a 2020 with LME heads tsp cam drop ins and a whipple on it and this thing won?t even try to idle with all the normal tricks. I?m sure the cam is just adding problems to what was already an issue on this weird vve stuff. Lt4 injectors and lt4 map in this too. Shop says he has to hold the throttle to get it to start. It was previously tuned by another shop on bolt ons and the maf table in it makes zero sense. Before starting a new thread I just wanted to see if had a tip of two some sort of direction.
    Thanks

Could be a vac leak and causing most the Issue with timing. What’s wrong with the MAF table, crazy scaling?

    Scott S. 2020 GMC cam heads whipple 93 only v8.hptscott gmc tune 6 log.hpl

Ben here is a log and the tune. Its still just trying to make it idle. I didnt get to the missfire tables yet on the log so its picking up a lot. The shop said a little noise so now maybe thinks a pushrod problem so checking that now. I had a zr1 they were too long and did something similar. Open the tune look at maf and scaling I have no idea how this will work for boost at all. It is backwards in a sense. It did idle now I put the stock map settings in it but it has a lt4 map Im told. But didnt even attempt to idle with lt4 settings in map so I dont know what to make of that. He said the whipple came with the lt4 sensor. Look at the log when get a chance its got a ton of timing total opposite of what you see on a cam with out going crazy low on virtual torque anyway. its also hunting bad but like I said maybe now we got a leak or mechanical issue like you stated.
    Thanks

Ive done a couple of these. Yall can message me if you want and we can try and figure it out but you do have to tune the NN on them no matter what with a cam

2019 Silverado 5.3 BTR stage 2, K&N intake, 1 7/8 longtube headers. It was finished in early spring and when I tried the ecm swap it said out of stock. I now have the worlds largest paperweight. Is there any way to turn besides yanking all of this back out?
