Transmission Fluid Change? To do or not to do.........

I have a 1999 Dodge Intrepid with 90,000 miles. The transmission has never been serviced. I wanted to do some preventive maintenance and have the fluid and filter changed, etc. Some people have told me that at this late mileage I may cause more harm than good. In other words changing the fluid would loosen up chucks of sludge which would cause tranny problems. So my question, is it a good idea to change the fluid and filter now or not?

hmm, id think it'd be allright if you completely drop the pan, change the screen/filter, and make sure its pretty spic-n-span inside.
