08 6.7 Cummins tuning

Just purchased an 08 6.7 ram. Wanting to start some tuning on it but theres a delete tune loaded
On the ecm and hpt wont read it. The original owner said it had lost some parts before he got the truck
And the check engine light was on. He had a local shop put a tune on it to turn the lights off but no fueling was done. Its stock power. I can't read the ecm to be able to do anything. Really don't want to have to resort to having to purchase efi live as i would like to learn this platform for this as I've been using it for almost 2 years in other vehicles.

If the ECM is locked and preventing a read you could have a dealership flash it back to stock to restore it but you would need to flash a delete tune in right away.
