Thread: The Driver Demand Maps under the Engine tab

The Driver Demand Maps under the Engine tab

with Maps A,B,C and reduced power.

Are these selectable through a network based message i'm guessing?
From like changing a mode select button that goes to the BCM, and BCM sends a message?

I wouldn't think that the PCM would just choose other than maybe the reduced power map.

Would be a neat way to have 3 switchable maps if we can figure it out.

Wow I don't even recall replying. I'm trying to figure out what I was thinking when I replied.

Anyhow, the ECU makes the decisions. The modes only correlate to throttle progression. There is no way to link drive mode to different tune files.

I always wondered PCM tune wise what all is changed with the different modes... So the only thing that is affected is the driver demand tables then in the tune?

Also do we know which mode matches which DD table?

    Thanks.

As far as we have access to in the ECU, nothing other than throttle modulation changes with the modes. However, it does change the NPP valves which is controlled by the CCM and suspension which is controlled by the BCM(I think its the BCM). The throttle modulation changes reported torque which is ties to all of the other torque based things. But there is no available logic that would allow you to change spark or fuel with the driver mode. It would be great if you could I guess, I used to tune that into Subaru STI's. Each mode had more boost.

Anyhow, The labels also don't match every vehicle. I know that DD Table B is TRACK for Camaro ZL1's and Corvette Z06's. I think A was Tour and C was Sport but I stopped trying to remember because now I just make the same-ish changes to all 3 modes for the driver. Most of the people that ask me just say, "hey can you spice up the throttle a little in Track mode?" So I would make that change an then they would say Tour mode is sluggish. Which it was just driver perception. So now I always make the table changes very close or the same to eachother so that the driver perception doesn't change.

    I appreciate the info...

I have just been using the same numbers in all 3 DD tables as well, but was curious if I was missing anything. I dont have active suspension on my Camaro SS, but I do have NPP exhaust. So I am mostly using the mode switch for controlling different sound levels with the exahust at this point. Sport 50% open, Track 100% open, Snow/Ice 0% open, and Tour left stock for now. With the LT's and no cats it sounds terrible anytime the valves are in any state between fully open or closed it seems other then a static 50%.

One annoyance with the modes I have found is Tour & Sport are the only modes that will persist with a key cycle. Track & S/I go back to Tour mode automatically on key cycle. Meh.

Hey, if I have a tuner just change the driver demand tables on my z06 will it affect timing and/or other components? I feel like the car is sluggish in tour mode. I don?t want any performance out of the tune
    Thank you
