Did you start the car after the mods and before the codes were disabled in the tune? Post your tune if you want help.

I was specifically asking if you started the car BEFORE you uploaded the current tune where you said you disabled the codes.

Disabling the codes keeps the computer from looking for them in the future but if you already set permanent codes before disabling them..........they are permanent until proven ok.

Why did you turn off P0171 and P0174? If the motor is lean, you need to fix the problem (vacuum leak) or tune it right (larger intake tube?).

I have seen some codes, specifically catalyst codes, that are hard to disable. You turn them off in the tune, write the tune, and somehow the changes don't make it into the ECM. What happens is when you save the file after making changes, the changes are undone and not saved. The file you then write to the car don't have the changes you thought you made.

Try this. Do only one DTC at a time. Make your changes, close ALL windows in the Editor, then click Save. Close and reopen the file to see if the changes stuck. If they did, do the same for the other DTCs.

I know you are one of the more knowledgeable people here but I've flashed literally thousands of tunes since 2004 in all kinds of GM vehicles and have never had what you describe happen. Permanent codes happen when DTCs are set before they are set to No Error Reported.

You really need to tune the MAF for the larger intake tube. That will probably take care of your P0171 and P0174 and will make it run much better.

As for the cat codes, if you can put the cats back on and run it until the "permanent codes" clear, then you can disable them and they should stay gone.

So if the monitors have been set and no permanent codes, disabling those codes will result in no permanent codes setting? Learn something new every day. Does that count only on write calibration only or will it also work with write entire?

The only time you need to do a write entire is if you are changing the OS or a parameter that is in the OS Tab. DTCs are in the calibration.

I didn't know that. What I had been doing is if it is the first time I modify the vehicle in any way. Even something small I would do the write entire. Then every change after that I would do the write Calibration. Thank you for the info.
