Thread: Meth tuning process

    Meth tuning process

    2018 camaro zl1 a10 running 93 oct

    Mods are:
    Ported stock blower
    5" intake
    Ported stock tb
    2.3 upper
    8.6 lower
    Meth injection
    Gpi stage 3 pd cam
    Gpi ported heads

My question is: what is the tuning process when running meth both as a fuel and to keep intake Temps down? I've tuned meth before on gen 4 ls's but not on gen 5 where I assume the process would be different.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys

tune as normal keep the meth the last step, then just change your PE setup

can you elaborate on that. What are you adjusting for?

Do a pull commanding say .85 and spray the meth. If it goes to .81 for example, lean the PE table out to command .89 so you actually get a .85 reading on your wideband etc.
Remember, If the meth pump fails you'll be at .89 WOT in this scenario.

OK from what I'm gathering shooting for a .78 on pump is the move. I shouldn't have to worry about running out of pump. The goal is to then shoot for a .1 lambda drop while spraying meth. Am I on track here?

.78 is awfully rich. The goal is to reach your target lambda using both pump and meth. Pick your meth jet and make a pull. If you're rich, start pulling fuel from the PE table. If you're lean start adding fuel to the PE table. If your fuel system is maxed out and you're still lean then you need to add more meth. There is also a way to spray a bunch of meth and full e85 which requires you to reduce your MAF table to not tap out stock fueling but then you have to address the drop in calculated airmass with Torque changes. This is a little more complex but it works.

DI engines run leaner even under boost like .82 lambda depending on fuel quality

Depends on the setup and what it likes. I usually aim for .84-.85 on 93 e10 and a little richer like .83 for e50-85 with or without meth as mentioned above for LT4 stuff using the stock blower. Ethanol contains extra oxygen that gasoline doesn't have so you need to fatten it up a little.
