    ZF8 Vin Change

    Hello,

Just wondering if HPT supports changing the VIN of a ZF8 transmission.

    Thanks!

Why would you need that? Licensing?

I just swapped a 2016 Charger 8hp70 for a one out of a 2017 Challenger and functionally it worked just fine.
Only real hang-up was tuning. I had to buy a new license because the TCM cal id changed.

Was unsure if we were going to run into vin mismatch issues. First time getting a Dodge set up going. Thanks.

The TCM doesn't store the VIN. You can freely swap 8HP70's in and out. I have a 2019 8 Speed from a 1320 car in my 2015 Scat Pack.

What if you need to swap in a rebuilt HP90 into a HP70 car (originally) with a TCM that has another VIN, won't there be a communication mismatch as the PCM will request the VIN from the TCM (and it does store it) and not communicate?
    Hellcat PB > ET: 10.092, MPH: 135.650, 60': 1.492, R/T: .000
Bone Stock Scat Pack PB > ET: 11.612, MPH: 119.52, 60': 1.634, R/T: .000 (gone but not forgotten).

I was wondering if anyone had experience mating a 2023 HP90 transmission TCM with a 2019 Scat Pack PCM. Currently the HP90 will not communicate with the PCM.

I was told that the HP90 TCM had software updates during certain years, ie. 2015-2018, 2019-2020, 2021 & up. So, if you upgrade your HP70, the HP90 TCM must be within the years above to be able to communicate with your PCM. I have a 2023 Jailbreak Hellcat Redeye HP90, but my Scat is a 2019. To fix this problem, I have to replace the original TCM with a 2019-2020 TCM as the software will work with my Scat.

I can confirm I swapped a ZF8 and now have a Jeep that won't start until I change the transmisison VIN. It would be great if HP tuners could do that.

Only OS Version matters on Transmission swaps, VIN does not matter,

N2Speed: I am new to this but for the 2023 8HP75 it does seem like the TCM is VIN "coded". Can you confirm it isn't? It's not completely clear to me whether is is or isn't. It would be great if is wasn't?? Thanks - Tim

The TCM will store whatever VIN it is Connected to, it does not need to be changed as it will update itself.
