Thank you sir - I'll take a look into it and see if i want to extend it out. I think to make real power out of it I will have to do it, haha.

Is there anyway to get more resolution to limit timing by IAT or MCT? or am i limited to the IAT compensation only?

Hey all - hope you are all well, just wanted to post a quick snip of the truck and where i am at now for a WOT pull and get some criticism if possible. I feel like I finally got it to the point that i am hitting the upper limits of torque modeling (only goes to 2.4) as discussed a few posts ago.

I also feel like I am running out of breath towards the 5k region and im seeing load lower, even though throttle is open and wastegate is mostly 100%.

let me know your thoughts! Next is tapping into some ethanol and upping torque tables i think... it seems as though i can get the throttle to open just a bit more and make some wild power in the mid range, but i also dont want to blow it up.

Looks pretty good to me, still room for some more boost in there.
Though likely the ECU will just add timing to make the extra load, since there's headroom there... Considering knock timing is still adding more in while under full load.

If you rescale the torque model, I'd bet you can get the indicated torque well over 400 ft.lbs. no problem.

That 100% helps getting higher load! Thanks a ton for the help earlier.

I notice now that the LSPI tables are my limit which is what I was trying to do. Hit almost 2.6 load and also structured my timing lower for testing. Feels VERY strong, but i can tell that is based on more air so it does seem to take a bit to ramp up. I am assuming once i feed back some more timing it will feel stronger quicker. I will probably try letting the knock sensors add timing and run off of the cyl pressure ceiling for now.

Anyone find that they have more knock when utilizing the Knock Sensors to allow timing rather than the Octane Adjustment via the blend factor?

Interestingly, when i add the timing directly via Octane Adjustment it seems to not knock in the areas it would before when i was letting the knock sensor do its thing. Might just be a fluke i suppose but made me wonder if it is adding some volatility when ramping in.

Everything feels much stronger (or at minimum smoother) when i do it via octane adjustment.

    Ethanol! Good stuff!!
I've had success with running a blended fuel (4 parts 93 octane pump gas and 1 part VP X85 ethanol) in my 2.3 motor.
Currently using a 93 octane tune with an adjusted AFR of 13.1

Metro, to answer literally the first question you asked (after tuning up to this point) at high 5k rpm's i am flowing almost 40

here is my latest log from today after some tweaking over the months.

I feel like i should probably figure out that boost spike, but it only seems to happen when locking in gear to get a full pull.

I'd like to figure out how to keep the torque going to about 5k rpm, not sure if you all have any insights on this.

It's most likely the turbo compressor running out of flow.
Keep in mind that the air mass and turbo air flow PIDs are calculated, so even though they're still climbing, the actual airflow is probably falling off light air load is.

You could probably counteract *some* of that by getting either more boost in above 5k RPM, or try bumping timing in those areas. Either way isn't going to be great on the hardware, you're either stressing the turbo more or stressing the engine with more cylinder pressure.

Though the timing system *is* actively adding in more timing, clearly the knock control isn't picking up on anything, so you do have some timing overhead.

The throttle doesn't go wide open until 5500 rpm. At that point it appears as though TIP desired = TIP actual, and with the throttle wide open it's all you're going to get at that TIP. If you want more at high rpm, it looks like the TIP limit or expected TIP will need to be increased.

I am actually looking to do the inverse, hold torque a bit more until 5k. So where mike saw the throttle closed.

I noticed when tip goes to 40+ and air load is between 2.4 and 2.5 I make great power. I am not sure exactly how to get the throttle to open more as I have worked the torque tables. I wonder if the TIP tables need to be worked with? or I need to request more DD? but I don?t think that?s exactly it.

    Thoughts?

EDIT - from what i have done and played with.. i think working with TIP would really do the trick atleast being able to massage them a bit. what exactly impacts this? Expected TIP doesnt seem to do much when i played with that table. MAX TIP def did something but never hits my MAX.

I don?t want to make more power over 5k, I agree nothing will be happy there and it will just be hot air.

    Edit

Would Cyl Pressure Limit be closing my throttle? maybe raise the limit, but pull timing from other areas and see what happens?

You can get it to open the throttle more by adjusting the wastegate base duty cycle, but it's a bit tricky... If you try to keep the throttle completely open, it can make the car feel sluggish.

You also might try adjusting the canister pressure table too, add in more boost there... Though that might also cause throttle closures too.

The cylinder pressure limit is for timing only.
