    Speed Density on E38 - 07 C6 Z06

    Hey Guys,

i am beginning my tuning experience with my c6 z06.

    Just put the following together:

    Frankenstein Ls7 Ported Heads
Greg Good HPC Hulk LS7 cam
    Mamo Ported MSD
    Katech 103mm TB
    Vararam SC1R
    ATI Damper
    C5R Timing chain
    johnson 2110R lifters
    CHE Trunnion Upgrade
    ARH 1 7/8 headers
3 inch exhaust to stock mufflers

With built top ends and aggressive cams, do you guys just strictly run Speed density? I see on HP tuners an OS patch that converts the E38 to Speed density, but once you do that, you cannot go back to MAF tuning. Are you just disabling the MAF by adjusting the Dynamic airflow to disable the MAF and force it to run on Speed density?

I see people claiming better throttle response and easier to tune once its somewhat dialed in. As far as MAF tuning, i know it will help better with transients and drivability, but with such a large and aggressive cam, is that really going to be worth keeping MAF? the MAF is also located right at the throttle body, so the reversion in the intake can definitely impact the signal quality of the cam at lower RPM's.

running that combo in SD will be much more smoother for sure.

MAF will still work with the speed density OS. I don't know why they put that text in the description, it's not true.

That's unrelated to whether you should keep the MAF though - in my experience they work best when stored in the junk drawer of your toolbox.

thank you guys for the feedback!

I think i am going to pull the trigger and not look back and do the 2 bar map OS patch.

If it was me, I'd run both. Tune the SD up to 3-4K RPM and let the MAF do the rest.

So how do you do that?

I can understand it other way around, though.
