2004 dodge ram tuning for cam

so i bought a engine from ATK. its the 400 hp non mds hemi. comes with a Comp Cams 216/220 cam and its been bored to a 392 but not stroked. there site says the ecm must be tuned. I know I have a NGC3 ecm. I just don't know much about tuning. the extent of my uses with HP tuners is "tampering with emissions". just looking for a general direction to go in. the link for the engine with all the specs is below, any help is appreciated.

Most likely 2004 is going to be a challenge. A lot of the stuff you need may not be available.

Start with posting your tune file so we can see what there is to work with.

A lot of guys swap the 2004 to a 2005 PCM so they can access more tables and stuff, but it's not plug and play. Significant wiring changes are required.

You're in for a fun time here.
If in doubt, multiply everything by 1.1.

That Cam is Comp cams 268H , it's not that big of a cam compared to the stock cam, only 10degrees at .50 larger then stock, and .034 and .037 lift larger then stock, (stock is 494/494 206/[email protected] 115 lsa).... it's Based off of the stock SRT6.1 cam ..it's great 1st step cam, and really delivers on the power#s I've seen as much as 328RWHP with the as is 04 ram tuning ,same truck hit 355RWHP with a 727 trans swap and stock 04 tune, , it'll start and run with the stock tune, but Idle will be a night mare, it wants to surge from 500 to 1100 RPMs till the adaptive learning kicks in , but even after it learns ....it'll wander and look for a good RPM to idle at........

FWIW the 04 I mentioned , is 4x2 RCSB final tune was bought thru MMX , not sure who does their tunes. the short block is still stock ,has Eagle heads on it 2.08 valves, Indy Modman intake with a custom plate made for a 90mm TB , 58lbs injectors , 4.88s stock 04 PCM , trans swapped to a 727 and it runs 12.40s @110 MPH weighs in at 4500 with driver....puts down 430RWHP and runs the #s to back it up.

    2004 ram with cam.hpt

This is the tune from my 2004 with a cam

Let me first mention, I bought this truck from a friend. It already was tuned and already had the cam. I am not sure who tuned it, and I didnt really mess with it much. Im not suggesting use this tune, but it should be a decent tune for comparison purposes. This truck cranked, idled and drove great. Hopefully you can see what changes you need off of this one

I was able to get the engine and trans in finally. at first start up it ran and idled seemingly fine. the next day I went out to start it and run it a bit to burp the coolant bubble and it wouldn't idle. I I tried two tunes posted previously one made it pop and fart and the other wouldn't idle at all. I went into the stock file and changed every single target idle to 1000 rpm and it idled good until I tried to move it. I also have to have my foot on the throttle when cranking or it absolutely will not fire up. it doesn't move well as when you put it in gear it lugs right down and kinda wants to die but doesn't
the data log I'm sharing is kind of spiritic rpm but that's mostly me with the pedal trying to keep it running. the file named first start is the first time I fired it. the one that says idled for a bit that's the spiritic throttle one, mostly me with the pedal. and the tune where i put all idles to 1000 first start up.hplidled good for a minute.hpltuna boat with trans all idle to 1000.hpt

    Update

cranking.hplfuel trim doing dumb shit w key on engine off.hplFTW origional clone.hptidle fine untill in gear.hpl
so I have a few recordings. the night I put the motor in it started and ran fine, idle and everything, on the stock tune. I went back in the garage the next morning to try and run it to build coolant temp to burp the cooling system and it would not idle. I tried some of the tunes from this thread and one where I did nothing but set target idle to 1000rpm and the only one that gave me good results was the one that sultan had worked for someone. that idled ok until I pulled the truck out of the garage, ran back in to grab my phone, and got back in and put it back in drive and it stalled and wouldn't idle again after that. I have the recordings of it idling until I put it in drive, funky long term fuel trim reading with key on and engine off. it will always fire if my foot is on the throttle but wont stay idling.
