1999 jtec ram unplug radio for flashing?

I need to know what the reason is for unplugging the radio to flash the jtec ecm. If it a voltage issue than I need to know because I also have other things running in this truck. Like a air lift system that controls the air ride. If you can elaborate on the reason for the unplugging of the radio. Please and thank you.

you just need to have the radio off , your flashing might fail if you don't.

Right on, thanks!! I?m still curious as to why the flash might fail because of the radio.

Because it draws power, and your battery might not have enough voltage even if its new, due to the constant, yet small, draw from the radio. Its common practice to do the same in gen 3 LS based stuff.

Ok that makes sense, I know how low voltage affects these things. Just making sure.

In general, I always pull the fuse on Mopar/GM/Fomoco vehicles. Whether its needed or not is besides the point, easy to eliminate an issue before it happens. But thats just me.
