411 PCM Are the auto and manual versions the same?

I have a 2002 Camaro SS with the 6 speed manual and am looking at swapping in a 4L60E.

I realize the majority of people are swapping from Auto's to Manuals where the PCM tuning is straightforward.

Have not been able to find anything anywhere on going from manual to auto.

Can the 2002 Camaro SS PCM be tweaked or reflashed?

Or is the PCM for auto 4L60E control different?

Thanks for any guidance on this.

They use the same computers, it's just the file on the computer that is different.

If it was me I would have the computer flashed with an automatic 5.7/4L60e file first, then use HP Tuners to license it and start tuning.
2016 Silverado CCSB 5.3/6L80e, not as slow but still heavy.

If you don't post your tune and logs when you have questions you aren't helping yourself.

How did this go? I think you can just select the trans type in the tune, it's got the options

Unfortunately, you can just click the switch from manual to auto and have it work. You can either do a segment swap or start with an automatic tune. Either way, you'll need to Write Entire.

I think you mean't to say "Unfortunately, you can't". Now I understand your post!!

Working on two 2002 swaps at the moment. One auto to manual and one manual to auto.

Since my initial post I have learned a lot from reading forum posts.

I now know that while the manual and auto options exist in the drop down menu. The support programming does not exist.

Similarly with flex fuel. It may show up as a choice, but does not work because the support programming is not there.

So now I understand that to enable manual transmission for example, the choice is to import the manual segment or to write a whole new stock manual file.

For the manual that has a custom tune, I will import the auto segment to retain the tune.

The advantage of importing a segment is that the tune would not change. If you have a custom tune and want to keep it this is the best choice.

Will this process be 2 or 4 credits?

If your file is already liscensed, the segment swap costs nothing

it would cost an additional 2 credits to license a different file if what your looking for in a segment isnt available in your os
