As long as it is the same unit the ratios will be the same si no problem there, no tuning needed.

everything is clean! clutches look beautiful, im guessing the previous owners had it rebuilt. so its looking like a bad torque converter. gonna put in the new parts tho. i tried to upload images but nothing would upload, maybe theres something going on with the site?

we were getting a lot of slipping to the point starting hearing noise from the tranny. metal banging and such, the car wouldnt move when i gear and let off the brakes and when you gave it gas, it would hardly move along with the banging and crunching sounds. it sounded like all gears were playing ping pong. heard a few not nice things about the converter we bought after we installed it but not sure if its the converter yet but theres nothing left to be the problem.

Man I can't think of anything in the converter that would make noise like you describe. The stator could be blown to pieces, sprag blown up or locked up it does not make any noise like that. Very odd that you can't see a problem in the geartrain.

so far everything is beautiful! ill be making a compressor to compress the plates to remove the snap rings and ill have all clutches out and everything exposed. im stumped as well from the symptoms and what im seeing. do you know if some of these new clutches are refurbished used fiction disks? putting the clutches ion atv fluid to soak and noticed the back of these single sided clutches have heat marks on them! i texted southern hotrod about it, hopefully ill hear back in 2 days. still cant upload imagaes, these clutches are too clean and unworn to have 190k miles on them.

The problem must be somewhere else, maybe the rear end? As for the clutch you are using I have never heard of them, but I have never seen refurbished frictions. The heat marks you see, it is probably just from when the lining was bonded on the steel core. As for yours looking good after 190K miles, that's normal. Wet clutches do not wear over time like a dry clutch. They only wear or burn if there is an issue causing them to slip.

well all cushion plates were flat so ill be orderingnew ones from southern hotrod. all clutches are beautiful and will be saved for another nag1, have 4 vehicles with a nag1. i want to take the torque converter to get cut open and check the condition but i dont trust the one thats in the area! i took my tripple disk with a updated stator converter from my diesel and had them check it out and was told it was all stock. the converter they gave me back let go i two days olaying with the truck. i took it to another shop and was told it was all stock no triple disk, no upgraded stator. the first shop that is local swapped my converter. 2300 for.

Interesting, it is the first time I ever hear of someone modifying those converter to have more frictions. The OE setup already use a clutch pack with two double sided frictions and three steels, maybe they use thinner steels. Hopefully you find someone you trust to open that converter, I would be really surprised if the problem was in there.

That's odd. Let me give you a step by step view of screenshots when I do it and see where it is different for you.

    First I click on this:

Second I click on "Choose File" and chose the file I want to upload:

Third I click on "Upload file(s)":
