    Getting started help....

Hi Gents ! I'm a newbie and will be ordering the MPVI2 system soon for a 2016 Dodge Charger that has already been HP tuned by the previous owner (and doesn't have the OEM Dodge PCM) and I was wondering what are the first things that need to be done after taking the MPVI2 out of the box. Do I register the MPVi2 first or synch the MPVI2 ? Also, do I buy the 2 credits I need when I purchase the MPVI2 from the HP tuner site or after I get it and when registering it ? Thanks, and if there's anything else you think I need to know, please advise.

when you first get your device
    1. download vcm suite
2 create account and register the device
    3 connect device
4 open vcm editor/scanner and resync
    5 enjoy your MPVI2

credits can be bought up front at initial checkout or after you've registered the device.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Thanks Bill. So all the above is done BEFORE I connect the MPVI2 to the vehicle, correct ?

    Hi Bill,
I downloaded the VCM Suite onto my Mac Airbook Computer and it won't open because it says I need an "app" to open it. How do I get the VCM Suite to open on a Mac computer ?

What do you mean, Bill that VCM suite "does not support Mac computers 'natively'" ? ? Are you telling me that I just spent over $500 for your products and can't use it because I have a Mac computer ? What am a supposed to do now ?

I am not a Mac user, but I have read of people using Boot Camp to run Windows on their Mac.

Thanks, Mr. C. It's too bad that the company hasn't formulated a Mac version after all these years. At the least they should post a disclaimer somewhere on the site saying that the VCM "isn't supported" by Mac and post instructions how to make it work with a Mac like you did.

Okay, thanks for that info, Bill. Probably the best and easiest thing to do for a newbie like me would be to buy a good Windows computer and use it exclusively for tuning.

I would certainly agree, I haven't checked the pricing lately but pre covid you could buy a "decent" new one for $400ish so its not a huge investment for most and I've personally purchased a few refurbs with good luck.

You're right, Bill. My wife found me a brand new ACER Travelmate B3 at Staples for only $254.00 (before tax.) She got it up and running and we downloaded the VCM Suite with no problem. I hooked it up to the car today and was able to read and save the tune. I posted it on the Dodge Tuning Forum in hopes that someone will be able to help me enable the Oxygen sensors that were turned off by the previous tuner so it will pass state inspection here in Vermont.
