Anyone else break their MPVI2 connector?

    MPVI2.JPG

This thing snapped clean off today as I was going to plug it in. Anyone else have this happen? I noticed it cracking a bit over the past few weeks. I have older OBD2 cables, OBDLink's, even a cheap ELM327 that has lasted years and years without issues.

EDIT: Added more photos because I finally have sunlight outside and because someone thought my MPVI2 was abused.

thats crazy. I would guess I average 10-12 times a day that I plug/remove my mpvi2, and zero issues. the case seems pretty robust for me. looking at your picture up close it looks like some solid gouges in the connector. possible got dropped, shut in door, or kicked while driving. not saying the body may not have been from a bad mold or something, just seems like it would take a lot to snap it like that

That's not the body. That's the broken clip that I put next to the gap. I use the MPVI2 maybe 4-5 times a day. It's never been dropped, kicked, or abused. I keep it in a storage container when not in use. It's been babied. I abuse my ELM327 and other devices for years and years without any issues. This part of the MPVI2 has been slowly cracking for awhile all by itself. It feels like really cheap plastic as it was crumbling in my fingers. It's not ABS plastic as I tried to use acetone to weld it. Probably polycarb.

My old MPVI1 Pro that I bought in 2013 has seen a LOT of abuse over the past 8 years and the connector was fine. It was made a lot more durable than the MPVI2. I looked at my OBDLink MX and OBDLink EX and they use similarly thin connectors but have not yet cracked.

I added more photos to show it was not abused.

At first glance it looked chewed, but going back after you pointing it out, i see its the broken piece. thats crazy. I have an rtd on my dyno, that the center portion has one of the "legs" broken, but i know how that happened as I kicked it getting in and out of the car I used it on.

looking at the body, I believe that if they made it solid, instead of having the slits in it, it would be substantially more robust.

I have noticed with mine that with daily use the rubber inserts on the body are starting to deteriorate. waiting to see how long this goes before it actually starts peeling
