2000 gm p01 cam sensor signal

I?ve got a very strange situation that started with a quick 1 or 2 second dip in idle. Sounded like it was going to die then cleared up and ran normal. Now it has progressed to all the time. Engine barely runs. Sounds like the timing is severely retarded but it?s not. I?m suspecting cam sensor. Does anyone know what value I?m looking for when logging cam sensor? Thanks

You can datalog the cam position sensor output and see if it stops counting during the log. If it does stop counting, it'll typically throw a cam sensor code pretty quickly.

Ok. No code yet. Going to investigate more today. Thank you.
