I would recommend trying the bluecat transmission tuning software.
If it has a 4L60E, I would not go over 6K at the 1-2 (no matter what engine size... or intake). High RPM in first plus the super low 1st gear ratio makes life awful hard on trans internals, especially the reverse drum, but also the planetary.
