    05 GTO won't find vcm?

I have a mpvi system, scanned car fine, then went to editor and it says can't find vcm when trying to read the entire vcm for the first time. What am I doing incorrect?

    Try closing the scanner first.

werd, either close out the scanner or hit the disconnect button, the scanner takes precidence when connected.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

ok,now it says this:request access failed.Unable to license vehicle. You can not license a vehicle that vcm editor can not access. What does this mean for a fix? locked pcm? it's never been tuned as far as I know.

Make sure when you plug your unit into the car that it's not plugged into the computer yet. Then see if the power light lights up on the unit. If it doesn't then check your cigar fuse most likely in underhood fuse block. If fuses are good check powers and grounds on your Data Link Connector. If they're good wiggle your cable going to your HP unit paying careful attention to where it plugs into the HP interface. I've only had mine for around 2 months and my cable has already got problems with a connection inside. If I don't keep it angled or turned just right, it won't communicate... Makes programming and definately datalogging a major pain. Not sure what I did to cause problems as I have not had this issue with any of my other scan tools or anything else that I have had for years in comparison, but never the less I've got two more on the way. Atleast all I hope the problem is, is the cable... Pretty sure it is since I can hold the connector at the interface and flex it a little .5 inches away and watch my power light go out and back on.

Then you might want to also make sure you have a tight connection on your usb port on your labtop. If you have one you've been using religously then try another if you have that ability and see if anything changes.

Anyhow, just some more info on what to look for.
