Disable/Remove direct injection

Has anyone successfully removed DI and run port injection only in a factory DI vehicle? Does the pcm need to see fuel consumption for the transmission to shift properly? Will the pcm still output an injector signal if you set all the codes related to direct injection to ?no error reported?? With the Holley running ignition, all of the ignition related codes I set to no error reported and when you log, it still follows the ignition map. I?m wondering if fuel would do the same thing?..

Are you going to use the Holley to control the port injectors?

I have not heard of anyone removing the DI injectors but plenty of people adding on port injection with a separate ECM to add headroom for build HP builds.
