BA XR6 non turbo big cams tune

    G'day guys,
Have a customer vehicle I'm looking at tomorrow who says after a cam swap motor wont run. He assures me cam timing is correct. I know that ford do fueling via cam angle so that was my first thought that the bigger cams have caused issues there.
Anyone might be able to help me on this one or provide a base map I can use to tune from.

You would know, as a tuner that it's unlikely to run with these cams. You'll need to go back to basics as far as a base tune goes & start from there with what you know & information you have.

If you have any doubt about cam timing, first tell the customer that you need to confirm the cam timing is correct. That means removing the rocker cover & turning the engine over possibly 30+ times to get the timing marks to line up or removal of the front TC. DON'T waste time you can't charge for or are going to lose because you didn't check & confirm everything before starting to tune. Stock VCT or locked vernier gears?

Same goes for basic checks eg fuel pressure & flow, plugs etc.

Have the fuel lines been connected correctly?

You're asking for a base map.....BA auto or manual? What strategy?
Again, best place to start is stock tune & adjust to suit mods.

You may alsobe better of jumping on the PCMtec forums & searching there for the write up on big cams. There's a couple. Can't remember if they were Barra or Boss? Locked or std VCT. Great info there for the Australian falcons

    Good luck with it all
