Thread: Pushbutton high idle?

    Pushbutton high idle?

Got a bit of an unusual idea, vehicle is 66 ford f500, 2001 5.3l attached to original ford 4spd manual.

It has a hydraulic pto drive that operates a dump box. On the original engine I had a cable operated high idle that helped give needed rpms for the pto.

Would it be possible to wire a switch to ac compressor input on ecm, and have a push button high idle?

Sure thing. It'll just think the AC is on and increase the idle speed to the commanded "AC on" speed.

Nice I was thinking that's how it would work.

Would I apply ground to "a/c compressor cycling switch" pin 55 c2 "red" connector?

    Thanks
