    "Stock" 5.7 Tune Discussion

Hey guys, buddy of mine just got a 2012 Challenger 5.7 that appears to be stock.

I took a look into his "Stock" tune and saw that the Exhaust Cam Phaser was disabled.

Has anyone else seen this on a stock car? Compared this stock file to a couple other stock 5.7s and there seems to be some differences in spark tables as well. Speed limiter was definetly bumped from 142mph to 166mph. Ive yet to see that on a "stock" car. This post was really meant for discussion.

Log cam position and see if it moves. That switch is backwards sometimes.

That was exactly my thought, just waiting for my friend to send me a log file. Wonder why HP would have that switch backwards.

Why don't you send a support ticket and ask?

Yeah on my 2013 JGC 5.7 the exhaust cam was also disabled but I confirmed VVT was working by logging the cam angle. Seems to be a known problem on certain vehicles...I would venture to say it is a GPEC2 controller thing, but it is just a guess.

there is a parameter whether this system is provided or not. and then parameter 1 shaft or not. and the fact that it is further disabled is a feature of this control unit and the operating system

As for the phaser being disabled, my 2013 JGC 5.7 was bone stock and also showed it was disabled but it was not. Some years of the GPEC controllers showed disable when it is actually not. There was a thread about this on the forum a while back.
