OS question re SD in a boosted application

Hi everyone- excited to learn VCM Suite- brand new to HPT and an avid reader.

I'm hoping folks here can clear the prevailing question(s) bugging me at this point:

I have a 2007 Silverado PCM, # 12602802, HDW code 12589162, Delphi Warren type that I'm using in my 5.3 boosted (1990 non-OBD Ford Ranger). I read Bill's post about custom OS:

"2 Bar SD custom OS available on most 97-07+ LS1 based PCM's
2 bar MAP sensor support (calibration capability for GM 0-5V linear MAP sensors)
Extended Main VE table to 210kPa (2bar)....."

My question is- Does the PCM I'm working with allow a custom OS to be used that will incorporate SD tuning with 210 kPa VE table...and is it free, or something I have to pay for?

    Thanks for your time,

    Kind regards.

To do that, I would have to read the OS from the PCM, correct?- I don't yet have the Ford wired up yet.

I'm assuming the alternative would be to load another 2007 stock Silverado 5.3 auto file in VCM edit and take a look?

    Thanks for the response!

Yes you need to read the ecm.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

What year pedal, TAC module and ETC are you using? 06-07 OSs are only compatible with 06-07 hardware.

    Thank you, Bill.

So far, the OS versions I've seen (07 gen 4, 06 gen 3 truck) are very limited with respect to my goals, but I'm still reading.

What are the "OS upgrades" I keep reading about?

I guess what I'm attempting to resolve is: Am I going to have to use a more robust / different model ECM to allow SD tuning and boost (~210kPa)?

Thanks for your (and 07GTS) help.

Thank you for the response; I have the complete ECM, harness and TAC module with pedal.

EVERY file you look at will seem very limited if you are still in the default 'Basic' view.

I mentioned I didn't have my Ford wired for the GM ECM yet-

Is there any problem with simply tying the respective power pins together (obviously two seperate bundles) and hooking a OBDII plug to pin 58 so I can read the OS?

When I select the OS icon, it returns a blank screen.

After reading around the forum, I'm not sure if that means a) something is wrong with the read (not likely), b) I can find another 2007 Silverado P59 OS and "write entire" or c) I've just lit a match to about $700

    Please help!

It's that flex fuel OS, not any of the hardware. The '07 Classic non-flex files have OS upgrades available.

Thank you for the response- I'll be sleeping better tonight.

I'm assuming I'll be able to find another DBW, 2007 Silverado P59 OS that will allow me to "wrtie entire" to enable 2 bar SD operation?

You can do what I did, go look in the repository. Anything that's '07, Classic, VIN 'Z' (L59) will be flex fuel, so look until you find something that's not one of those.

The 2007 Silverado files in the HPT repository are all either Gen4 E38 or flex fuel.

If you guys find one before I do, please point me in the right direction- I should've known it would be yet another "thing".

Go to the repository. Select '2007' and 'Silverado'. Click 'Search Repository'. Scroll down until you see this...

This is a VIN 'Z', but non-flex?? I believe the flex OS is larger and there isn't room in memory to add the custom OS bits or something.
