    Cobalt 2.4 Write Issue

I Have a Cobalt 2.0 LSJ. A friend of mine has the Cobalt 2.4. So tonight I went to scan his car is scanned fine no issue we made a few very simple changes then as per the HP tuners instruction I do a “Write Calibration Only” after it erases the VCM it has a write error and my friends car light flicker all his gauges go to zero and I thought we were f*cked. Then I made sure all my connections were tight, shutdown/restart the editor and still same problem write error. So for about 15-20 my friends car was toast. Then I said well let me try the “Write Entire” When I did that is took about 4-5 mins but it successfully reprogrammed the VCM and we test drove it and it was fine. Ohh yea I am using the latest Final Release 2.14. I just want to inform everyone about that issue. if anymore info is needed i will be happy to provide it.

    Thanks

there is an inconsistent ECM hardware glitch with the write calibration. only a few % of E67's see this problem and we can't exactly nail down why. We are working on a solution but for now write entire needs to be used in these cases.

Good, I'm glad to know I'm one of the few. How many times is the vcm capable of being rewritten? Currently, it's only been changed once, but I want to go in and try to lower the VVT activation point as well as enrich the fuel delivery. I'm also currently searching for how PE mode works.

thousands if not millions of times.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Quick question, what is a reasonable price to get minor VE tuning done by a pro shop with HPT?

VE tuning on an 06 might be pretty pricey as they don't have a standard "VE" table anymore. Lots of constants that get added/multiplied/squared to get the final VE value. Plus you have intake and exhaust timing to deal with too that get added into that mix. Not fun...

Take a look in the V8 stickies -- Post about the E38/E67 ECM's.
