Well back to the tune at hand. I did some driving today with the AFR set to 13.5 on the VCM controls and wow. What a difference. Now that I have the timing pretty much were it seems to want it, I am going to put the car back in SD and tweak the cells in question individually so that I only get the richer (13.5 AFR) in the VE cells that have the bucking and surging. The MAF just doesn't seem to want to fatten up in the areas that I need. I keep raising the value like 5% in the cells that are affected and my AFR stays in the 14.3-14.9 range. If I can get it to stick to what I say in OLSD, then that's where it stays as it is a pleasure to drive around finally. Thanks for putting me on the right track Christian.

I've seen a few references that claim the MAF is used at
the low end under steady conditions but in my experience,
changes to the low end of the VE table show up 1:1 in the
fuel trims (so the MAF must be a small or zero factor there).
Anyway if the MAF table gives no satisfaction just go ahead
and bump the relevant VE cells and see.

Well since I couldn't find an excel spreadsheet with premade formulas (which I suck at making), I logged VE in AFR and went to each cell and divided it by whatever AFR I desired in that cell. I then multiplied by that number by whatever the value in the VE table was and viola, almost perfect. A couple more logs and tweaks and I will finally be done tuning this thing. Hell, it's only been a full year, about $2000 in gas, and about 200 hrs . After I get it perfect, I will hook the MAF back up and see if it stays or if it goes back to 14.7 and I will post. Thanks again everybody!

    Hi LosLS2,

Glad to hear your results are following the right path...finally.

Will be interested in one of your log to compare your results to mine...when you will be comfortable with your drivability!

Send me a cfg file of what you are wanting to see. I will have to send to you a couple of custom PID's as I am getting my AFR readings thru the EGR wire.

It's pretty much dead on now. I plugged the MAF back in and it seems to be holding the VE table settings. Jimmy was right on there. When I plugged the MAF back in I noticed that the vaccuum line that goes to the AC was completly split open. I fixed it and now it's not quit as smooth. The AFR all looked right though. I am going to unplug the MAF again tomorrow morning and go for a ride and see if it was more choppy because of the vaccuum leak or because it went into OLMAF mode.
