Need to connect the interface to open tune file

    Hello,

I've read two vehicles with the VCM Editor - mine and my wife's - and saved the corresponding HPT files. I can now open my file as many times as I want, browse it, change it, etc.
But each and every time I try open my wife's file the VCM Editor prompts me to connect the MPVI2+ interface to the computer, so that it can access the HPtuners servers. Otherwise it won't open it.

Why is that? Is something missing from the file? Did I do anything wrong when I created it?

    Thank you.

Some applications require an MPVI2 to open their files, sounds like that is the case here. Perfectly normal.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

But it's the same application in both cases - the VCM Editor. It can open one file, but not the other.
Not that I mind, it's no big deal to connect the MPVI2, but I was just curious as to what the reason might be.
I thought maybe I did something wrong when creating the file, like turning the ignition off too soon after reading, or something like that, and now the file is somehow incomplete.

Pretty normal, nothing to be alarmed about.

I'm not alarmed, just curious. I'm trying to learn how these things work.

Wouldn't it be neat if there were a way to post the files in question, so that other people could see if the weird behavior can be duplicated?

Sorry, I didn't think of that. Good point.
    Here's the file:

    Kuga_orig.hpt

What is the platform of the file that opens, and the platform of the one that doesn't? What Bill was trying to say above is, some vehicles just work that way. Others don't. What are the two vehicles?

The file that opens directly, no questions asked, is a 2020 Mustang GT (Euro-spec).
The one that opens this way is a 2016 Kuga Mk2 (aka Escape).
