    07 Trailblazer SS - E67 Tuning headaches

    Hey there boys.....

Last week an 07 Trailblazer SS came in for tuning.... It has the regular K&N intake, high flow cats, and cat back....

I tuned it like normal and it ran like a raped ape....The guy loved it... Only to come back a week later with a few codes....

    Cooling fan rationality code.????
    Fuel Trims lean...

    First off...I've tuned a bunch of 06 TB SS's (all E-40's) and never a hitch....But, this new E-67 thing...yuck...

After a few days, the guy complained that the throttle would "go dead" and not respond when the vehicle was cold and he was light on the throttle.... When I tested it, it was warm and hardly did it....

Next, when I initially tuned it, I had my fuel trims looking great...When the guy came back I had LTFT's in the lower maf values at like 17-22... and scattered....

So, I made the normal maf table adjustments to add some fuel...and it went WAY rich....by alot more than I expected...and guess what???!?!? The throttle "deadness" got much worse.... MAN, I've had rich LTFT's in the past, but never did it effect the electronic throttle! I seems that there must be some kind of throttle limiting when the fuel trims go way out...or so it would seem....

Know what? Either this new E67 is way different on the inside...or it's time for me to retire from tuning......or both.... Anyone else had this experience????

This whole thing stinks of the new "NO VE TABLE" crap-ola. I'm seeing patterns here similar to that of tuning camshafts in E-38 vehicles....with no VE table.

Where, oh where, is CHRIS from HPT when you need him????

For some reason when I get the fuel trims the way I want them (like every other car I've ever tuned) ...the throttle goes limp when the vehicle is driving slow before closed loop operation......

    Anyone ELSE?

post some annotated logs/tunes, without these it's like having blind men judge a beauty contest...

Always post a log and a tune or we'll just spread chicken guts on the hood and then dance madly around your car in our underwear shouting loudly in the hope that it fixes it.

the dead throttle is from the trans abuse mode torque table. If you zero the reduction it causes the throttle problem

Nah...just bump the air flow filter coefficients a little in the lowest three table ranges.

my personal vehicle is a 07 Trailbalzer ss and i had this same problem, the only way i found to fix it was to put a numerical value in those tables. You can modify them form stock but it just can not be zeroed out

    Thank You Everyone!

Thank you everyone for your input....

All along I had believed that it was an airflow issue as tweaking the maf table was what caused it and or made it worse....

I especially like the idea about tweaking the airflow coefficients...Could you please be more specific....????

    Thanks again.

Yeah, I bumped the lower three table entries by 1/2 the difference from it's original values and the next higher values. Made a world of difference and cruise is almost idle level accellerator effort...my 70 MPH mileage went to 20 MPG, in my AWD TBSS. I haven't had it set long enough to run a tank of gas through to figure out teh mileage but I'll be filling up soon.

There are some tips here: http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13569

Of course, they were just doing the 16g/sec table, but I found it helps cruise by going to the first three or four table entries.

The trans torque is one major issue with the loss of throttle, I spent 2 weeks trying to find the same issue on a 07 SSTB. I went through every change I made in the tune and found that table to be the one causing the problem.

    I assume you have a 07 right?

I tried everything that was posted on the here and what other forums had recommended, but I found I had to have these two tables with a value in order to have it work without issue; Trans> Torque Management> Abuse Mode> Torque Reduction & Reduction Duration. I have a 1 in the Torque Reduction table in all the values except the first 3 and the Reduction Duration table is basically the stock settings. This helped cure my dead pedal issue completely. I also had found that if I changed a third table that it would not let the trans shift out of first unless you manually up shifted and then it would only go into 2nd gear and nothing else; Trans> Auto Shift Speed> Part Throttle Shift> Normal. If I had this set with the same settings as Performance or Hot it would cause it to not shift out of first, but if I put basically stock settings in it, it cured that problem too!

I hope this helps you like it did me!

Man I cannot thank you enough for discovering and posting this Trans Abuse setting table. I have an S10 with an LS engine using an E67 from a 2008 Trailblazer. After finishing up the swap a month ago, my only (but serious) issue was that 90% of the time it would be in a "limp mode" with reduced torque and worst of all an approximate 2000 rpm hard limit. I could reset it to run normally by shifting to neutral and back in gear multiple times (3 to 10 times) or restarting several times. Tried multiple attempts to fix, including new TPS and new pedal assembly. Then tried the first two tables exactly as you posted here and the problem is gone ! Now runs and shifts great. Yes, I realize this is an ancient post, but still applies.

Yeah, it's a problem with the GM OS in the TBSS, not with the tuning software...I've caused it on 2 TBSS's by setting all the torque management stuff to 6042 in every gear...change it to 6041 (or just 6000 lol) and it's not a problem anymore...I forgot because it was years between the 2 trucks, but once I remembered it was easy to fix.
