I ended up breaking the full sized male end on the USB 3.0 cable that comes with the MPVI2. I've since "repaired" it, but in the mean time I wanted to flash my ECM and TCU.

I used a normal USB-C 2.0 cable to successfully edit files AND reflash my ECM/TCU. The cable has to use the standard 4 pin/wire setup, as there are some cheap and novelty USB cables that only use 2 pins/wires for charging devices. I knew the 2 pin/wire USB cable would not work/be safe for flashing, but I tried it for editing and my laptop does not see the MPVI2 as a device. You will be able to easily tell if the cable is compatible, by opening the editor with the MPVI2 connected.

I'm not sure this will work for all devices and vehicle modules of course, but if you're in a jam, it may work for you as well!
