2010 6l80 swap in 2011 C6?

I'm getting conflicting info on if this can work? Will it work if write my complete 2011 firmware over to it's TCM, or do I need to swap the TCMs? Or am I just SOL for buying an incompatible year model trans for my car?

Look up the TCM service number for 2011. Look up TCM service number for 2010. Make sure there aren't multiple options for either. If both call for the same number, and you confirm your 2010 trans has that number in it, then the hardware can take either a 2010 or 2011 calibration.

What if I just swap the 2011 TCM onto the 2010 trans?

If they are not the same number, sure. Or are you just wanting to avoid licensing a new TCM?
