ZF8 AMAX Allowed Modes???

Any one have a clue what this does or how it works. Have seen different values in several different models but most I have seen have 3 as the value.

[TCM] 43960 - Trans Max Mode Allowed Trans Shift Modes, Variant 0: This value is bitwise anded with the current trans shift mode, if the resulting value is not zero, max mode is allowed.

Thanks for the update, it is so rare for people to follow up when they learn something, much appreciated! I was looking at mine (2016 B8.5 A5 2.0TFSI ZF8) and it's 918.
